Mac Miller, born Malcolm James McCormick, is a relatively new American rapper. His debut album Blue Slide Park, came out in 2011 and quickly reached number one on the US Billboard 200 charts. His second album, Watching Movies With The Sound Off, came out in June of 2013. Mac Miller was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and quickly developed a love for musical craft. He taught himself to play the guitar, bass, piano and drums. At the age of fifteen he decided to get serious about rapping, forming a group known as The Ill Spoken with his then partner Beedie. He released four mixtapes beginning in 2008 under the rapper name EZ Mac with The Ill Spoken, including How High, The Jukebox: Prelude to Class Clown, The High Life, and K.I.D.S. These mixtapes got him noticed by Rostrum Records, who signed him for his first album. Since the start of his career, Mac Miller has worked with a number of other artists. He appeared in the remix of 'Moves Like Jagger' with Maroon 5, premiered the song 'Onaroll' produced by Pharrell Williams, and toured in Europe with Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz. Mac cites fellow Pittsburgh native Wiz Khalifa as being one of his greatest supporters throughout his musical growth. As well as his studio albums, he has released a live album entitled Live From Space, over 10 mixtapes, more than a dozen EP singles, and a number of featured appearances and tours. He has also explored the internet as a tool in his craft, releasing several songs on YouTube and a iTunes exclusive album of himself experimenting with jazz crooning. His style continues to adapt and develop, providing fans with an evolving experience that delves into the possibilities of rap and other genres.
